More Marie – and a message for Liz!

I only ended up using one of my digital Maries for the swap. I ended up going overboard on the bling (I’m sure MA would approve) and even used – eeek – peel offs! Crafting friends will know I am decidedly not a fan of peel-offs, but really I am not a fan of the way they are often used. What’s more, rules are there to be broken :-) I did dull them a little with black ink to take the blinding shine off of them. And it’s funny, I have no problem using German scrap, which is surely just a posh, un-sticky version of the same thing.

Anyway, here they are (not a brilliant scan, sorry):

Also, I have a message for the lovely Liz, who left a comment on my last post. I have been trying and trying for the last couple of days to leave a message on your blog but blogger hates me. Probably because  I’m using Live Writer to blog and bypassing blogger software altogether – it’s sulking! Tomorrow I have to pop into the library to return The Wrestler DVD so I will try from one of their computers. If it doesn’t work, Liz – I am loving your Christmas cards (especially the yellow one).

Lastly, I am having one of those days where every ATC I make I mess up. I’m trying to make three distressed ATCs for UK Stampers. How hard can it be!? Although, I have to say, I find just stamping quite difficult ‘cause I’m so used to doing collage. Hmm, maybe a glass of wine would help – hehe.

Works in progress

I have to create four Marie Antoinette ATCs for Swapbot (no Kirsten Dunst allowed!) so I have started playing around in PSE6, as is my current wont. But I’ve got so far with two of them and think I need to add some real life embellishment of some sort. Some black embossing perhaps, a touch of stickles, the odd gem or two…? If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to leave a comment.

The red one is more fully formed but I have also included what I have done so far on Teacup Marie as I am rather pleased with myself for managing to put her in the cup! I layered the cup image behind her, then duplicated the cup image, erased the tea and the back part of the rim and then layered that on top of her.

The Last Tommy

The Artful Ideas ATC theme this fortnight is Remembrance - and you have to include a poppy. I decided to honour the wonderful Harry Patch, who – until his death this year at the age of 111 - was the last surviving British soldier who fought in the trenches of the First World War.

I found an amazing portrait of him via Google Images and blended it with a photograph of the battle of Passchendaele, in which he fought.
